Re: Please help. Oil leak

On my own car, it slipped right on or off. But then I had to replace the key in it, when I replaced the harmonic balancer.
I should mention that it was ready to fall off when I bought the car, not...

Re: Please help. Oil leak

Ok, this means you have 2 oil seals and 1 rectangular shaped "O" ring left to replace at that end of the engine (if you decide to change all of them). That "O" ring is located between the oil pump...

Re: Please help. Oil leak

According to the FSM (pages 8-7 thru 8-11), there are 2 oil seals and an "O"ring (rounded corner rectangle shape), and that's it. One of the oil seals is right behind the crank pulley (front main...

Re: Please help. Oil leak

Which oil pump seal did you change? The only 1 I can think of is the one behind the crank sprocket.
To get that off, you have to remove the harmonic dampener (lower pulley).

Re: Trunk letting in water

Also check the seals around the tail lights. Sometimes they like to let water in too.

Re: Transmission Issues (not my DD)

If found mine was bad in that corner when I was replacing the sway bar bushings. Enough of the steel is still there, but it's something I need to get after in the spring. It IS a Rusty Accord after...

Re: Transmission Issues (not my DD)

Yeah I saw you got it swapped out, and it's working again.

Nope. The owner (my son) has been busy with other things, and I'm just a helper on this one. He's been cleaning parts though, which seems...

Re: Please help. Oil leak

Check the balance shaft seal. If you're lucky, it might be just starting to walk out. Normally when it comes out, it'll dump 2 quarts of oil in seconds.
Dorman sells a retainer clip for just that...

Re: Million mile club

Yeah, I hear ya on country of origin. A couple of the MOOG links I installed were made in Mexico. My son just installed a set of Timken rear hubs that were made in China (said so on the box) for his...

Re: Million mile club

Well last month I replaced my hub bearings at 233K. They were original NTN bearings, made in Japan (as was the rest of the car). The Timken bearings I got from Rock Auto were also NTN bearings, but...

Re: Transmission Issues (not my DD)

Nice looking fleet you've got there. :) The backyard art is interesting too. A couple more and you could kind of fence in a section.:squintrun:
And yes, I was wondering if you got it in and up and...

Re: Million mile club

I was just saying above, Rock Auto does have them in stock. I even gave you the part number (510050) and the price per bearing (25.79 each).

Re: Million mile club

I hear ya. I try to stay away from the dealership if I can. I'll shop around for parts and fluids though, but then I've been doing that most of my life.

My son is a multiple Honda owner (he has 2...

Re: Million mile club

I have to call BS on that one. Yes, they don't sell a 4 lug hub (well actually they do seperately, but I wouldn't buy it), but then I'd rather keep the genuine Honda hub. But the bearings are...

Re: RR's 2014 ATS 6spd 2.0T

Now you have me wondering if I can bolt on a 4-100 rim onto a 4-101.1 hub. It might really come down to which lug nuts are used.

Re: Million mile club

If the cost of fluids is bothering you, look on e-bay. You'll be surprised at some of the deals that are on there for fluids and genuine parts.

Re: Million mile club

Yeah, and if you shop around for it on e-bay, you can get it even cheaper. I paid 24.95 (with shipping) for 5 jugs of it. That's basically 5 bucks a jug, which is cheaper than the generic stuff, and...

Re: Million mile club

For the cost of those microfiber towels, they stay in the car cleaning bucket with a lid on it to keep out the dust.
For general everything else, I use Scott blue towels on a roll. If you catch an...

Re: Million mile club

I think most vehicles that are using a rack and pinion steering set up, use power steering fluid (mostly clear). In the old days, you could run Dextron fluid in regular power steering boxes, and it...

Re: Million mile club

Actually it can be purple (DoT 5). I've got 1 car here that uses it. My old 64 VW had it too. It's silicone based. Expensive at 10 bucks a pint, but it also doesn't draw in moisture out of the air...

Re: What is this wiring/switch for under dash? Keyless, alarm or remote start?

The switch might have replaced the push button. Most times the push button is used to over ride the alarm, and allow the vehicle to start because the remote 's battery died. A friend of mine had a...

Re: Million mile club

Oh I used to have a 70 mile 1 way trip to work, 6 days a week. That got old real quick. Did that for over 2 years. Changed jobs and cut that ride in half. Stayed there for about 5 years and changed...

Re: Transmission woes. (DD)

Yeah, I don't know what the difference is either. It might be line pressures or something like that, that the ECU is looking for. It could even be shift points, so that the car gets into high gear...

Re: Rusty Accord's 99 Sedan LX F23A4 w/5speed (56K)

Yeah, my 99 lost both of it's dust shields. The left 1 started falling off the car while parked. I just reached in there and pulled it off the rest of the way. The right side one came off while I was...
